MAKINO TAKASHI im Kunstmuseum Stuttgart und im ITO Projektraum
Der in Tokyo lebende Künstler Takashi MAKINO schafft in seinen Werken Räume von beeindruckender Tiefe und Abstraktion. Mittels Collage-Technik kreiert er durch hundertfache Bildüberlagerungen und Einfügen eigener Musikkompositionen oder Tonfragmente einzigartige Experimentalfilme, in denen die wechselhafte Beziehung von Bild und Ton ausgelotet wird.
Gezeigt wurden MAKINOS Flme bereits auf zahlreichen Festivals, wie etwa dem New York Film Festival, dem Rotterdam Film Festival, dem Lima Independiente Festival oder dem Aichi Festival in Kyoto.

Der ITO Projektraum zeigt vom 07.04 – 13.05.2017 Cinéma Concret (30 Minuten) und While we are here (16 Minuten).
In Kooperation mit dem Kunstmuseum Stuttgart findet am Sonntag, den 09.04.2017 zusätzlich das Screening Abysses statt. Zwischen 16.30 und 17.30 werden insgesamt 6 Filme von Takashi MAKINO und seiner Frau, der Filmemacherin Hayama REI im Kunstmuseum projiziert. Der 3-D Film Space Noise wird von MAKINO mit Live-Elektronik begleitet.

The experience of watching Takashi Makino’s work is perhaps best expressed by the title of one of his films: still in cosmos. On the one hand, the filmmaker attempts to create a pure frenzy through the use of multiple exposure and superimposition, but there always remains a notion that abstract chaos exists within some sort of greater order. This paradoxical tension has persisted in all aspects of his filmmaking. At times his films confront you with the visual equivalent of a shriek; in other moments, they feel completely tranquil.
